Creating and modifying warehouses

Introduction

This page allows you to create, modify, and delete warehouses.

Roles and rights

To create, modify, and delete warehouses, function right 434 – Maintain Warehouse is required. Users with the Item management role have this function right.

The information in this document is based on product update 247.

How do I create warehouses?

1. In the Warehouses page, click New.

2. Define the fields in the General and Address sections.

3. Click Save.

Keep in mind: All fields with the “!” icon are mandatory.

How do I edit warehouses?

1. In the Warehouses page, select a warehouse under the Description column.

2. Make the required changes.

3. Click Save.

How do I delete warehouses?

1. In the Warehouses page, select a warehouse under the Description column.

2. Click Delete.

3. A message “Are you sure that you want to delete this record?” will be displayed.

4. Click OK.

How do I create warehouse locations for the warehouse?

1. In the Warehouses page, select a warehouse under the Description column.

2. Click New in the Warehouse locations section.

3. Define the relevant fields in the General, Status, and Attributes sections.

4. Click Save.

How do I edit warehouse locations for the warehouse?

1. In the Warehouses page, select a warehouse under the Description column.

2. Click the relevant location under the Location column in the Warehouse locations section.

3. Make the required changes.

4. Click Save.

Buttons

Save

Click this to save the warehouse information.

Save + New

Click this to save the warehouse information and create another warehouse.

Note: This button is available only if you are creating a warehouse.

Delete

Click this to delete the warehouse. To delete several warehouses, select the check boxes of the relevant warehouses, and then click Delete. The message "Are you sure that you want to delete this record?" will be displayed. Click OK to delete or Cancel to cancel the deletion.

Note: This button is available only if you are modifying an existing warehouse.

Close

Click this to exit.

Fields

General section

This section defines information about the warehouse such as the warehouse code, warehouse description, warehouse location for incoming stock, and warehouse contact person.

Code

Type a unique alphanumeric code to identify the warehouse you want to create. You can type up to four characters. This information is mandatory.

Note: If you are modifying an existing warehouse, the defined code is displayed and cannot be edited.

Description

Type a description for the warehouse. This information is mandatory.

Blocked

Select this check box if you want to prevent the warehouse from carrying out any inventory transactions.

Location: Intake

This location is the default warehouse location for receiving items into the warehouse. A warehouse location is a specific storage location in a warehouse and is used to easily retrieve items from any area within the warehouse. After the warehouse is created, you can modify the location information in the warehouse maintenance.

Contact

Select a resource that is responsible for the warehouse. By default, the resource displayed is the resource currently logged on to the application.

Division

Type or select a division for the warehouse.

Note: This field is available only if you have selected the Items check box at System à Setup à Central Master Data Management à Settings.

Address section

This section defines information about the warehouse location and contact such as the address, postcode, city, country, state, phone number and fax number.

Address 1/2/3

Type the address of the warehouse. The address boxes displayed depend on the number of address lines selected in the customized settings.

Postcode

Type the postal code where the warehouse is located.

City

Type the city where the warehouse is located.

Country

Select the country where the warehouse is located.

State

Select the state where the warehouse is located.

Phone

Type a contact number for the warehouse.

Fax

Type a fax number for the warehouse.

Note: You can see the following sections only if you are modifying an existing warehouse.

Monitor section

This section allows access to additional information related to the following tabs:

Inflow

Click this to view the purchase order fulfillment and return fulfillment (incoming stock and purchase return fulfillment) for the warehouse. For more information, see Searching for Warehouse Transactions.

Items

Click this to view the items that are available at the warehouse and their respective stock positions. For more information, see Overview of Warehouse Stock.

Outflow

Click this to view the sales order fulfillment and customer return delivery (outgoing stock and customer return fulfillment) for the warehouse. For more information, see Searching for Warehouse Transactions.

Resources

Click this to view the resources that are allowed to execute warehouse transactions (for example, receiving of goods into the warehouse and fulfillment of goods from the warehouse) for the warehouse. For more information, see Overview of Warehouse Resources.

Warehouse locations section

This section allows you to create warehouse locations for the warehouse. Warehouse locations allow you to define the exact locations within the warehouse. To define a new location, click New. To modify a warehouse location, click the location name under the Location column. For more information, see Creating and Modifying Warehouse Locations.
